I was born on the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. However, I now spend much of my time in Brittany, France.

I have always enjoyed reading  books about travel and especially about people making a new life in another country. This spurned me on to start a novel about my exploits in Portugal, where I spent three year growing tomatoes. Being  virtually the only Englishman in the village I soon learnt to speak Portuguese and got involved in the local lifestyle.

My nick-name was ‘Rei Dos Tomates’ which means Tomato King, which I though would be a good title for a book. The book is still a work in progress, as it will be a fully fledged novel, but has been on the back-burner for a number of years. I also have a tomato growing blog full of tips and advice on tomato growing.

In the mean time I have spend much of my time in France, so this spurned me on to write a short novel about ex-pats moving to France. Luckily with the advent of  Amazon Kindle , it was very easy to publish as an e-book. So I have taken the first few steps into getting a novel published. I have also just stated writing the sequel to Vantastic France.

I am now an estate agent in Brittany, you can check out my proeprties HERE

  3. Hi Steve,

I hope you don’t mind me getting in touch. I found your details while looking for expat blogs and I hope you might be able to help me with my rather strange request?!

I am a Producer working on a television show called House Hunters International which follows English speaking expats in their quest to move abroad. I wonder if you or if any of your expat contacts might be interested in getting involved?! Please find a little blurb about the show below:

House Hunters International is a half-hour program currently airing on the Home and Garden Television Network (HGTV) in America. The series is designed to de-mystify the international home-buying process by going behind the scenes of a house hunt where expats and their real estate agents tour 3 homes. At its core, House Hunters International is a travel show concentrating on the idiosyncrasies of the locales and what makes them special and different.

Steve…jump at the chance to get involved with Househunters International!! It’s really hot in the US and was one of my favorite shows when I lived there (and had a TV!) Now I’m in SW France sans TV, but loving life here. I’m putting your book on my Amazon Wish List. Sounds like fun.
PS…hard to think of a sequel title when I haven’t read the first one yet…must remedy that.
